Mosque in SegouTexture of Segou Pottery

Our route took us northwest from Bamako, roughly following the Niger river. Our first stop was Mali's second-largest city, Segou. Under French rule, Segou was an important administrative city and a center of agricultural development. There are no noteworthy attractions in Segou, but it was pleasant enough seeing the colonial architecture along the main road, the quiet port on the Niger, and the market where the well-known Segou pottery is sold.
